Artists of Mallorca Art Prize 2024 And the Winners are.....

What a fantastic couple of weeks with the Finalists Exhibition at the Museu de Soller!

People really got behind the idea of the Elección Popular, with visitors delighted to have the opportunity to vote. I wish I had photos of the look on some of the faces when they were given the token to vote with!

When I had the idea, I really wasn't sure if it would be taken seriously, but I couldn't have been more wrong - the number of times I was asked for more than one token, because they simply couldn't choose a favourite from all the fabulous works, showed the amount of thought that was going into the decision. I had to be very strict, 1 person, 1 vote!

It was also great to see tourists taking my contact details so they could look up the result to see if their favourite was the winner, so it has also helped spread the word about the art being made on the island.

The Artists of Mallorca Art Prize Final is the culmination of a year's work for me, so it is lovely to spend the evening with so many friends from the Artists of Mallorca community and celebrate together.

This year's final took place on August 16 in the Museu de Soller. IB3 came along and filmed the event, and it appeared in the News Bulletin on the following day - very exciting.

As always, the jury - Natalia Spitale, Miguel Angel Delgado and Silvia Fau - had a very difficult decision on who the winner of the Art Prize would be, but also had to keep it secret from me and everyone else!

So who did win?

El Mar de Ulises by Toni Crespo is the winner of the 2024 Artists of Mallorca Art Prize. It is a mixed media work on canvas, 140 cm x 140 cm.

Palma Arches 60's by Emma Owen is the winner of the 2024 Artists of Mallorca Elección Popular. Oil on wood, 112 cm x 112 cm.

It is, of course, wonderful to win, but I would also like to congratulate all 26 of the finalists for their support and hope they feel proud to have got to the final.
