Soller Mural
Updated: Aug 1, 2020
On 26th May 2020, Natalia Spitale started to paint a mural for the town of Soller to represent it's culture and history to visitors. The final touches will be added tomorrow, 3rd of July, and it has been fascinating to watch it going up and to see Natalia in action, from the initial sketches going straight on to the wall, to the colour being added and finally seeing the full work, with the tram, the famous bank building designed by a Gaudi pupil, the particular fabric that used to be made here, the Firo reminding us all of the tough life people used to have living on the coast, isolated from the rest of the island by the mountains. It is a huge work, and testimony to both the skill and tenacity of Natalia, working in increasingly difficult conditions as the sun turned up the heat.
A wonderful addition to the attractions of the town, to be enjoyed by all for years to come.
